Quality without a fuss
Daily fresh fish, plateaus fruits de mer, oysters and lobster or baked North Sea sole and grilled salmon. Come and have a taste of all the delicious goods the water has to offer us.
We feel at home in the ambiance of a brasserie: honest food for an honest price, good produces without a fuss. Set tables, but not too stiff.
Escape reality momentarily
…And suddenly three hours have passed. Was it the good company, the impeccable wine, the friendly waiter, our hypnotizing aquarium, the pleasant atmosphere or the delicious food? It is up to you, but something we hear often is: “We have been transported to another world for a few hours and the time flew by.”
It goes without saying that you are still more than welcome if you have less time to spare, but do want to enjoy a delicious meal.
Will you be joining us by car? There’s usually a spot available in close vicinity of our restaurant. We would advise you to keep the high parking fees in mind. Available alternatives are the parking garages Q-Park Bijenkorf and Q-Park Nieuwendijk (on the Nieuwezijds Kolk). Lucius is easily accessible by public transport: take tram 1, 2 or 5. Get off the tram at the dam and Lucius will only be a five minute walk away.
Our kitchen is open daily from 17:00 until midnight.
During the holiday season there are a few exceptions to this rule. We are closed on December 25th and open from 18:00 until midnight on December 26th. We are closed on December 31st and open on January 1st. We are closed on the 27th of April, King’s day.
What our diners have said about us:
The fish was outstanding and prepared perfectly. I had a whole sea bass expertly deboned and my friend had the mixed grill. Each of the five different fish in it were each cooked just so. The service is very good without being intrusive. Not a big tourist place which is a good thing.
What a find! The food was amazing! The starter of crab cocktail was simple but very tasty. Across the table the scallops in Parmesan cream were outstanding, the sauce was rich and full of flavour but didn’t overpower the delicate taste of the scallops. We both had the tiger prawns in garlic butter for mains and again they were perfectly cooked. Desserts were candid ginger with cream and ice cream with chocolate sauce and almonds.
The best and freshest oysters I have tasted in a long time. The shrimp, scallops and salmon were also excellent. Stayed in Amsterdam three nights and ate at Lucius two of the nights.
