Wils’ love for wine was instilled from an early age. Not in large quantities. Just one drop diluted with plenty of water and only on special occasions. Every bottle that appeared on the table in her parental home was critically analyzed. If it disappointed, the wine ended up in the kitchen or disappeared down the drain. Wine and wine are not the same thing. Wils knew this from a young age.

Since 2008, she has been employed at Lucius where she obtained all the qualifications necessary to call herself not only a sommelier but also a certified vinologist.

The wine list of Lucius Festive bubbles, pleasant house wines, quality wines from the ‘old world’ France, Spain, Italy, Greece. The menu is carefully and diversely curated. The entire assortment from our ‘own’ Apostelhoeve in Maastricht is also on the list. Together with other old Amsterdam hospitality giants such as Hotel Krasnapolsky and restaurant D’Vijff Vlieghen, Lucius* was *one of their first customers. Almost the entire assortment appears annually on Lucius’ wine list: a Riesling, Auxerrois, Müller Thurgau, Pinot Gris, or the Cuvée XII. The wine list is classic and contemporary. Just like Lucius itself 😉

The world and wines are changing. With various organic wines, Lucius also seeks its path in responsible enjoyment. All the more reason for Wils to carefully choose and advise on which wine best complements a dish. When she hears that the given advice is appreciated, her day is complete again.
