Reviews are a reflection of our quality. From classic food critics to modern online review platforms – they are important to our restaurant. Ever since Lucius opened in the 1970s, we never had trouble attracting guests, but it was when Wina Born wrote about us that we truly took off. Wina Born was the first culinary critic in the Netherlands. Her impact on Dutch gastronomy is unparalleled; she taught the country to eat and enjoy food in a whole new way. A positive review from her was worth its weight in gold. And we received one.

There was one critic from whom Lucius never received a review. Johannes van Dam, the legendary restaurant critic, once lived above our restaurant. Though he may have written little about Lucius, he was a regular and welcome guest at our tables.
